Manager Patient Access

About the role

The Patient Access Manager is responsible for the operations of the patient access department and related patient access processes, including admissions registration, financial counseling, insurance verification, charge management and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Develops new processes and improves existing processes using SLHS principles and model for continuous performance improvement.
• Focused on improving processes with an emphasis on customer service.
• Involved in the revenue cycle beyond admitting and patient access.
• Acts as an extension of patient accounting by assisting on-site customers with questions related to patient accounts and the revenue cycle.

Requirements

• Experience in hospital or physician review cycle including patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, claims, follow-up, denials, payment variance, payment posting, or customer service.
• Team leadership experience, including building teams, fostering success, developing employees, and managing staff.
• Written and verbal business communication skills.
• Experience selecting, orienting, and managing staff.
• Familiarity with managed care, Medicare, and Medicaid rules regarding admitting requirements, billing rules, coverage issues, and reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of applicable experience.
• A Bachelor's Degree is preferred, but not required.
