Manager Patient Access

About the role
The Manager of Patient Access is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, and managing the Patient Access department and its performance and effectiveness. This role involves coaching and developing staff, implementing plans to improve customer service, and collecting quality information. As a subject matter expert, the Manager contributes to revenue cycle and organizational goals, ensures regulatory compliance, and aligns processes with Ensemble Health Partners policies at an assigned facility or market.
This position pays between $63,100 - $94,650 per year based on experience and is an on-site role at the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Directly manage operations for admitting, registration, and financial services departments at acute care locations, including assigning accurate MRNs, completing medical necessity/compliance checks, collecting insurance information, processing physician orders, and ensuring excellent customer service.
- Oversee Financial Service Representatives to ensure proper accounting processes, balanced cash drawers, timely deposits, accurate posting to patient accounts, and completion of required logs.
- Develop and manage departmental staffing needs, prepare monthly reports, and establish departmental goals to optimize performance and meet organizational objectives.
- Coordinate employee work schedules to ensure adequate daily staffing coverage.
- Collect, interpret, and communicate performance data to make decisions that achieve performance goals and work with internal and external customers on key decisions impacting the organization or individual patients.
- Collaborate with ancillary departments to maintain positive relations and achieve revenue cycle goals.
- Assist in developing dyad-reporting patient access staff, providing training, education, goal-setting, and performance interventions.
- Demonstrate advanced usage of AI to manage teams, improve processes, and explore technological advancements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification.
- Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) certification (preferred).
- Minimum 2–3 years of management experience in the healthcare industry.
- Patient Access experience with managed care/insurance or call center (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Strong prioritization skills to balance numerous priorities.
- Ability to understand and master computer applications and collaborate with IT to meet departmental technological needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Healthcare Management/Administration (preferred).
