Manager, Operations
About the role
Manages the gas distribution functions for a specific service area. Responsible for operation and maintenance of the underground distribution system, customer service, and accounting activities to ensure dependable gas service is supplied to all customers. Represents the company in the community, maintains effective customer relations, and provides a high-profile presence with active community involvement.
Accountabilities and Essential Functions
- Maintain operations and accounting activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
- Identify and solve problems creatively and proactively
- Maintain and prioritize multiple projects
- Collaborate across functional boundaries to improve business processes
- Utilize mainframe systems (Oracle), email, and personal computer software (MS Windows, Excel, Word) proficiently
- Recognize and address technical issues
- Prioritize and manage tasks, demonstrate organizational skills, and pay attention to detail
- Work in a team environment or independently
- Comprehend and implement processes, policies, and procedures

Minimum Requirements
- Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, engineering, or related field [QC1]
- Minimum experience: 8 years in gas operations, accounting, engineering, or related field [QC2], including 5 years with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership capacity
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of computers and related technology
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
- Able to receive and interpret directives and complete tasks
- Excellent leadership skills
- Strong decision-making skills
- Able to testify in regulatory proceedings

Physical Requirements
- Sit for extended periods of time
- Operate copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone, and other office equipment
- Exert up to 10 lbs of force occasionally and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or move objects
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines
- Normal office environment with occasional travel to off-site locations and staying overnight as required
- Available to work in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities
- Able to work more than 40 hours per week as required
- Primarily work standing or sitting
