Position Summary

The Manager of Women’s Philanthropy is responsible for developing and strengthening relationships with women and those who identify as female within Pittsburgh’s Jewish community. This role advances Federation's mission by cultivating donor relationships, soliciting annual gifts and endowments, increasing community connectedness, and creating meaningful engagement opportunities. The Manager oversees Women’s Philanthropy and engagement activities, supports donor events for women in specific giving societies, and manages a portfolio of approximately 50–75 donors and prospects.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage a portfolio of 50–75 donors and prospects; cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships through regular, thoughtful interactions.
  • Manage and support a team of volunteer fundraisers.
  • Initiate and integrate endowment conversations to create planned giving opportunities, with particular emphasis on Lion of Judah Endowment opportunities.
  • Strategically oversee Women’s Philanthropy and Engagement activities and identify opportunities for refinement, growth, and enhancement.
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Women’s Council, including supporting structure and governance, partnering with leadership on strategic direction, and creating opportunities for community members to participate.
  • Develop and offer opportunities for Lions of Judah, Forever Lions, Pomegranate Society members, and other Women’s Philanthropy groups to build and strengthen community among high-level female donors.
  • Partner with colleagues across the organization to maximize fundraising efforts and ensure collaboration.
  • Develop and monitor the annual budget for Women’s activities.
  • Work with the Missions Manager on Women’s Missions, including strategy, recruitment, on-the-ground stewardship, fundraising, and post-mission donor follow-up.
  • Attend National Women’s Philanthropy professional meetings and conferences.
  • Handle other Community Campaign and Women’s Philanthropy responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required or preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit annual and/or major fundraising.
  • Experience in volunteer management.
  • Experience with planned giving and endowments preferred.
  • First-hand knowledge of the Jewish community, including its customs and practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and partnerships with key lay leaders, donors, and professionals at all levels.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Federation departments.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of Zoom and basic database management skills required.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to meet with donors and attend events in and around the city.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required.

Compensation

This position has a competitive hiring range of $52,000 to $75,000 a year, commensurate with experience.
