About the role
The Risk Reduction Branch of the Transportation and Toxics Division is seeking a manager to lead and mentor a section of staff focused on analyzing, quantifying, and reducing risk from air toxics and other pollutants within California.
Responsibilities
- Implementing California’s air toxics program, including developing airborne control measures.
- Collaborating with impacted communities to understand and reduce health impacts from air toxics.
- Conducting and reviewing health risk assessments on various emission sources.
- Cross-departmental coordination with CARB divisions, U.S. EPA, CalEPA, OEHHA, air districts, and other agencies on risk assessment practices and air toxics programs.
Requirements
Minimum requirements include relevant experience with analyzing or modeling sources of air toxics, developing Airborne Toxic Control Measures or toxic emissions regulations, providing policy and technical recommendations, and managing cross-divisional teams.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have a demonstrated ability to manage and mentor staff, plan and manage technical projects, advocate state policy, negotiate sensitive issues, communicate effectively, and build inclusive team environments.
Skills
Desirable skills include knowledge of health risk analysis, regulatory development, non-diesel toxics, and local, state, and federal programs for air quality, toxics, and climate protection.

Pay
$11,437.00 - $14,315.00 per month, with a 3% reduction in pay due to the Personal Leave Program 2025.
Schedule
This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework.
