Job Summary
The Manager of Respiratory Care at Blythedale Children’s Hospital is responsible for providing independent, professional cardio-pulmonary care and performing diagnostic procedures on patients. This role reports to the Director of Respiratory Care and works on a rotating on-call schedule including weekends and some holidays.

Blythedale Children’s Hospital is a specialized children’s hospital located in New York State. It partners with academic medical centers to provide critical care to patients with complex medical conditions and offers extensive parent training to ensure safe patient discharge.
Responsibilities
- Communicates objectives and scope of services provided by the department/hospital.
- Prepares staffing schedules and ensures adequate staffing.
- Prepares bi-weekly payroll and escalates issues to the Director.
- Reviews department/hospital services and activities and recommends changes.
- Supports clinical care of respiratory staff, as needed.
- Engages in direct clinical care, as needed.
- Ensures policies, procedures, and systems comply with NYSDOH, JCAHO, and other regulatory standards.
- Participates in long-range and strategic planning.
- Improves operations through strategic alliances inside and outside the hospital.
- Inspires and motivates staff to achieve performance excellence.
- Communicates hospital goals, objectives, and updates to staff and peers.
- Makes sound recommendations for staffing, equipment, supplies, and capital needs.
- Maintains department/hospital expenses and obtains approvals for variances.
- Improves service and cost structure through innovative strategies.
- Provides respiratory care education for other hospital departments.
- Supports department's quality and safety initiatives and regulatory readiness activities.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience rendering direct professional pediatric cardiopulmonary care in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Minimum of two years of experience supervising respiratory care staff.
- Preferred sleep study experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required.
- Master’s degree in relevant field preferred.
- Licensed by the NYS Department of Education as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist.
- Maintain current license.
- BLS certification required.
- PALS certification required.
- NBRC registration required.
Skills
- Frequent standing/walking.
- Visual acuity and manual dexterity for maintaining the airway and manually ventilating the patient.

Pay
USD $120,000.00 - USD $140,000.00 /Yr.
Schedule
Rotating on-call schedule including weekends and some holidays.
