About the role

The City of Aurora is seeking a Manager of Quality Assurance to join the Aurora Police Department. The position is responsible for overseeing compliance processes, internal controls, and risk management within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Program Manager for department-wide quality assurance activities.
  • Develops and communicates a strategic vision for the Quality Assurance Section.
  • Led APD’s self-assessment, self-correcting, and accountability mechanisms post-Consent Decree.
  • Develops and recommends policy and operations improvements or modifications.
  • Conducts in-person policy compliance assessments to determine opportunities for improvement and risk management.
  • Formulates and recommends policy and operations improvements or modifications.
  • Participates in recurring policy development meetings as a subject matter expert.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in the identification of training needs and development of training programs to address compliance issues.
  • Maintains Quality Assurance Section timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Responds to inquiries requiring the interpretation of policies, assessment of policy compliance, and development of future policies and procedures.
  • Supervises and trains members of the Quality Assurance Section.
  • Conducts regular meetings with staff and midyear and annual evaluations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, public policy, or other related field.
  • Experience: At least four (4) years of experience managing agency wide policy compliance, risk management, or similar requirement.
  • At least three (3) years of experience conducting policy analysis and compliance reviews in a professional environment.
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience.

Working Conditions

  • Essential Personnel: May be required to work as essential personnel during local emergencies or disasters.
  • Physical Demands: Medium physical work that involves moving no more than 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Work Environment: Indoor office, public area setting.
  • Equipment Used: Computer keyboard, telephone, fax machines, copiers, scanners, time stamp machine, and point of sale system.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $109,808 - $137,261 annually.

Schedule

The schedule will be determined once the qualified candidate is hired and will reflect the needs of the department.
