About the role
This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role located at multiple sites with local travel required. The position is not remote and operates in a mission-driven, lean IT environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations, manage the ticketing system, and ensure a high standard of customer service and timely issue resolution.
- Provide direct, tier-2/3 technical support for hardware, software, network, and communication systems when needed.
- Support our diverse ecosystem, ensuring seamless connectivity and technology performance for both on-site and remote users.
- Administer and optimize Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, MFA, and SharePoint environments.
- Maintain network performance and uptime in close coordination with our external partners.
- Drive core security practices, including managing user access controls, conducting audits, and facilitating staff security awareness training.
- Assist in shaping and executing disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Serve as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and our Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
- Coordinate system maintenance, project rollouts, and issue resolution with external partners while monitoring vendor contracts and service performance.
- Lead IT projects (upgrades, implementations) and track key IT metrics to identify efficiency gains.
- Act as a patient, trusted resource, training staff on Microsoft 365, OneDrive, and SharePoint best practices.
- Manage hardware inventory, software licensing, IT purchasing, and assist in contract reviews.
Requirements
- Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (equivalent hands-on experience will absolutely be considered). 5–8+ years of relevant, well-rounded IT experience, preferably in a hands-on generalist capacity. Proven expertise administering Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, and cloud-based environments. Direct experience coordinating with or managing external vendors and/or MSPs. Exceptional troubleshooting skills paired with a patient, customer-service mindset and top-notch communication skills.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience working within a nonprofit, healthcare, or multi-site organization. Solid familiarity with modern IT security practices and compliance frameworks. Previous leadership or supervisory experience (formal or informal).
