Position Impact/Summary
The Manager of Institutional and Individual Giving plays a vital role on the Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound School's (CBOBS) advancement team. They lead a portfolio that raises up to $850,000 annually, implement and proactively manage a development plan, build and strengthen relationships, and ensure outreach and stewardship metrics are recorded appropriately.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio that raises up to $850,000 annually.
- Implement and proactively manage a development plan focused on expanding and enhancing corporate and foundation relationships to increase contributed revenue.
- Proactively research corporate and foundation prospects, and draft compelling letters of inquiry to drive the successful solicitation of five- and six-figure philanthropic commitments.
- Build and strengthen relationships by conducting 100+ virtual and/or in-person meetings annually with foundations and annual donors.
- Collaborate with the Special Projects Manager to develop a corporate sponsorship program that incorporates adult/corporate day programs as a sponsorship benefit.
- Draft highly competitive proposals for corporate and foundation opportunities, including strong impact statements, budget, and collateral materials for timely submission.
- Screen and research annual givers who have the capacity to become major donors.
- Work with the Communications Manager to draft and distribute compelling annual giving communications and newsletters.
- Assist in the implementation of the donor stewardship plan.
- Proactively advance prospects and donors through the moves management cycle, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, resulting in secured gifts and annual goal attainment.
- Implement a dynamic stewardship plan to retain and grow corporate and foundation partners.
- Ensure outreach and stewardship metrics are recorded appropriately and in a timely fashion for each account utilizing Salesforce.
- Collaborate with other advancement team staff to actively engage Advisory Board members.
- Lead the planning and execution of the annual Cornerstone Celebration.
Reporting & Communication
- Generate monthly and quarterly revenue projections and forecasts using Salesforce.
- Collaborate with the CBOBS advancement team and program teams to report on restricted gift deliverables.
- Collaborate with the Director of People & Operations to maintain a list of capital expense needs for the organization and the Director of Partnerships to identify funding needs or get students student access.
- Build relationships with the CBOBS program team and communications staff to shape donor proposals and engagement strategies.
- Proactively input prospect data and relevant donor information into Salesforce.
- Cookinate timely donor reports with internal staff.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution plus 3-5 years of front-line fundraising experience. Proven experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents to support their philanthropic goals. Proficiency in using MS Office suite and CRM database experience is required. Familiarity with Salesforce is preferred. Familiarity with and excitement for the Baltimore philanthropic community. Excellent project management skills, initiative, and discretion to achieve moves management objectives in donor outreach, in-person and virtual visits, solicitations, closures, and stewardship. Proven ability to develop lasting relationships with donors via proactive, regular communication. Self-motivated and disciplined independent thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. Capability to represent CBOBS energetically to alumni, donors, board members, staff.
