About the role
Our client is seeking a hands-on Manager of Accounting Operations to support the accounting, tax, and investment-related activities of a family office. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a complex, multi-entity environment and has a strong understanding of how accounting transactions flow through to tax reporting. Unlike a traditional corporate accounting position focused primarily on financial statements and reporting, this role is heavily involved in the day-to-day accounting operations of a family office, including allocations, invoice processing, investment activity, tax coordination, and partnership reporting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities, accounts, and investment structures.
- Manage detailed accounting activities, including transaction processing, invoice management, reconciliations, and allocations.
- Support tax-related workflows, including coordination of tax information, K-1s, and year-end reporting requirements.
- Monitor and record investment activity, including transactions involving alternative investments and partnership structures.
- Maintain accurate books and records, ensuring transactions are properly documented and accounted for.
- Partner with tax advisors, investment professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
- Support the flow of accounting information into tax preparation and reporting processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, strengthen controls, and streamline operational workflows.
- Manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy, organization, and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Strong accounting foundation with an understanding of the accounting behind complex transactions.
- Family office experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in multi-entity accounting and partnership structures.
- Exposure to allocations, tax workflows, K-1s, investment activity, and alternative investments.
- Experience supporting high-net-worth individuals, private wealth clients, or investment-related entities is a plus.
- Understanding of how accounting records and transactions ultimately flow through to tax reporting.
- Comfortable working hands-on with detailed accounting and processing responsibilities.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion and confidentiality.
