Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains clinical competency by ensuring that the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of the patient are met within a family-centered care environment.
  • Makes sure patients move through the system safely and efficiently to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient care.
  • Works with other healthcare professionals to meet patient care needs and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Communicates effectively with the healthcare team and works to overcome communication barriers.
  • Serves as a bridge between doctors, families, nurses, and other departments.
  • Monitors and addresses human resource issues for the assigned staff.
  • Trains, coaches, and develops nursing staff to ensure they provide high-quality patient care.
  • Ensures staffing and resources align with patient care needs.
  • Supports the implementation of unit goals and communicates the organization's strategic plan to staff.
  • Participates in unit-based quality initiatives to improve clinical outcomes.

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • RN - Registered Nurses licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact required.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support certified by the American Heart Association required.
  • Certification in a specialty-specific area or nursing leadership, with completion of certification within 1 year of assuming the role preferred.
  • Two years of Emergency Center Nursing experience required.
  • Formal leadership experience highly preferred.
  • Pediatric emergency center nursing experience highly preferred.

Located at I-10 and Barker Cypress, the hospital houses the only 24/7 pediatric emergency room in the Greater West Houston area, four operating rooms, 16-bed pediatric intensive care unit, 46 acute care beds, advanced imaging services, a neurophysiology sleep lab, a pathology lab, and a full-scale pharmacy.
