About the role
Feeding Tampa Bay’s Neighbor Services program assists with more than just food. We know that surrounding hunger are often challenges with meeting other basic needs; like finding adequate housing, understanding health care options, locating transportation assistance, or accessing services to support individuals and families. Our trained team is dedicated to our community and works one-on-one to help neighbors navigate the often complicated social services system. Our goal is to empower our community to utilize resources and services that mitigate challenges arising from the financial crisis. We provide neighbors with knowledge, resources, and opportunities to enhance economic mobility, enabling them to build a brighter, healthier future.
The Neighbor Services Manager at Feeding Pinellas will focus on delivering Feeding Tampa Bay’s suite of Neighbor Services at the Feeding Pinellas Empowerment Center. This role will undertake a variety of tasks, including assessing client needs, developing action plans, assisting with benefit applications, and submitting referrals to partner agencies. The role will also manage community partnerships, coordinate special events, and assist with day-to-day operations at Feeding Pinellas. The Neighbor Services Manager will collaborate closely with the Feeding Pinellas Site Manager and may help with opening/closing the Empowerment Center, managing meal and pantry services, and volunteer oversight. This position requires strong leadership, conflict resolution skills, and comfort working with diverse and vulnerable populations. The role is based at the Feeding Pinellas Empowerment Center with occasional work throughout our 10-county region.
Responsibilities
- Site Management
- Open and close the Feeding Pinellas location.
- Provide oversight and act as a point of contact (POC) for volunteer questions and concerns, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated.
- Supervise and run the Feeding Pinellas pantry and Trinity Cafe when required.
- Lead team meetings and collaborate closely with the Feeding Pinellas Site Manager.
- Create a safe environment for neighbors, volunteers, and team members by practicing environmental awareness, mitigating risks, and implementing safety policies.
- Embrace, uphold, and embody Feeding Tampa Bay’s mission and Grow Code in all interactions.
- Oversee the cleanliness and day-to-day upkeep of the facility in partnership with the Neighbor Food Programs team.
- Maintain regular communication with supervisors, site managers, and leadership on issues related to neighbor services, facilities, and community programs.
- Represent Feeding Tampa Bay/Feeding Pinellas at community events and meetings.
- Assist other Feeding Tampa Bay staff on special projects.
- Uphold policies, principles, and best practices for food safety.
- Proactively communicate and escalate strategic shifts, process improvements, and critical site incidents to leadership.
- Participate in Feeding Pinellas holiday coverage rotation.
- Neighbor Services
- Conduct neighbor intakes and needs assessments in-person at FTB Empowerment Centers and virtually via digital platforms or telephonic support.
- Utilize motivational interviewing, crisis intervention, and de-escalation to create client action plans within the empowerment model.
- Support the strategic growth of Neighbor Services in Pinellas County.
- Provide outreach support for Feeding Tampa Bay partner agencies at Trinity Cafes, food distributions, etc.
- Centralize connections between services provided in the Empowerment Center and food resources across the 10-county region.
- Uphold client confidentiality and privacy standards.
- Actively participate in team meetings, case staffings, and debriefs.
- Provide exceptional customer service to ensure neighbors feel welcome and have a positive experience.
- Cross-train to support various Neighbor Experience areas, including market shopping, Neighborhood Coordination, community events, helpline coverage, and follow-up calls.
- Serve as a first responder during natural disasters, supporting community distributions, emergency hotline coverage, and triage services.
- Data + Systems
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in documentation and appointment systems.
- Report data as required by FTB’s Data and Impact team.
- Oversee documentation and execution of services by FTB Navigators working out of Feeding Pinellas.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners.
- Plan and execute neighbor services events and coordinate with partners regarding data compliance and partnership impact.
- Serve as the primary POC for special events hosted by Neighbor Services at Community Place, overseeing planning and implementation.
- Act as the liaison and primary POC for Neighbor Services Partners at Feeding Pinellas, assisting with onboarding and training of new partners.
- Coordinate with partners regarding scheduling while ensuring adherence to FTB programmatic guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Stay informed about community resources and services; update the NS Resource Database as needed.
- Stay current on internal processes, programs, and industry best practices through training, community events, and conferences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 4+ years’ experience in social work, human services, counseling, public health, case management, or other relevant/related field.
- Previous experience supervising a team.
- Customer service experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Experience working in low-income, culturally diverse, community settings and a basic understanding of the challenges and barriers faced when individuals and families seek assistance.
- Knowledge and experience with homeless or housing insecure populations (a plus).
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively over the phone and in person.
- Experience working in high-stress environments, with preferred experience in crisis intervention, de-escalation, active listening, and motivational interviewing.
- Ability to independently oversee multiple projects, improve programs, and coordinate tasks while maintaining a collaborative work style.
- Comfortable with public speaking, including giving group presentations and training workshops to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to handle and document deliverables and data from multiple sources; spreadsheet skills required.
- Ability to work constructively with individuals from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in culturally diverse environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite; Zoom and Asana experience a plus.
- Occasional travel required among our 10-county service region.
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s license.
- Bilingual (a plus).
Pay
$58,100 - $59,840
Schedule
- Onsite: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
- Some evenings and weekends required.
