About the role
The Manager, Medical Affairs position oversees the day-to-day operations of Medical Affairs, including credentialing for physicians and Allied Health Professionals, managing medical staff department meetings, and providing oversight for peer review processes and practitioner corrective action proceedings.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the credentialing process for physicians and Allied Health Professionals
- Provide oversight of medical staff department meetings
- Ensure flow of information from medical staff departments and committees through the Medical Executive Committee and the Board of Directors
- Support the evaluation of current competency and quality of patient care
- Serve as a resource for physician leaders in areas of policy development, fair hearing process, and bylaws and rules/regulations interpretation
- Review standards provided by regulatory and accrediting agencies and develop action plans to achieve compliance
- Manage a mid-size group responsibility, supervising up to 12 employees
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration, Public Health, or a related field
- More than 3 years of relevant experience, 5 years preferred
- Specialized computer skills, including word processing (at least 60 words per minute)
- Possession of certifications such as Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM), Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), or Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) is preferred
