Flatiron Books, a division of Macmillan, is seeking a Marketing Manager to join our team. This role reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and involves close collaboration with editors, authors, agents, and publicists on hardcover and paperback publications across genres including mystery/thriller, literary fiction, commercial fiction, women’s fiction, biographies and memoirs, parenting, self-help, cookbooks, and more.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute creative marketing campaigns for a wide variety of titles across genres to generate awareness and drive sales.
- Design advertising campaigns for assigned titles, including ad copy, creative direction, vendor outreach, and budget management.
- Strategize influencer marketing plans, including ARC and finished book mailings, influencer boxes, paid and organic collaborations, book club outreach, and sweepstakes with partner brands.
- Manage early reading strategy on platforms like Goodreads and NetGalley to grow reviews, ratings, and sales.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Assistant to develop cadence, creative, and messaging for organic and paid promotions across Flatiron Books’ social channels.
- Attend weekly marketing meetings and title-specific meetings with authors and agents.
- Plan and execute trade marketing campaigns, including bookseller mailings, pitching bookstore and library book clubs, and assisting with trade shows.
- Work with the Macmillan Library Marketing team to support library outreach.
- Create sales assets such as in-store merchandising materials, sell sheets, promotional graphics, preorder incentives, and Edelweiss assets.
- Communicate marketing plans to the sales team at bi-weekly meetings, sales conferences, and as needed.
- Maintain budgets for assigned titles and present learnings from influencer and advertising programs at post-mortem meetings.
- Analyze campaign performance to inform current and future strategies and communicate updates to authors and agents regularly.
Requirements
- 5+ years of marketing experience in trade book publishing.
- College degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills.
- Deep understanding of influencer relationships, advertising landscapes, and consumer readership engagement.
- Results-oriented, motivated, and resourceful with the ability to work independently.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to assess campaigns and pivot strategy as needed.
- Energy, creativity, and passion for a wide variety of book genres.
- Basic skills in InDesign, Canva, and Photoshop; photography skills a plus.
- Proficiency in Google Business Suite.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000.
