Northrop Grumman Mission Enabling Products (MEP) Business Unit designs, manufactures, and operates small and medium-class spacecraft for communications, imaging, scientific, exploration, and national security space applications. MEP is the leading supplier of space components that power and enable satellites of all classes, provides technical engineering services to government agencies and laboratories, and is developing exciting new satellite servicing and advanced space flight technologies.

This position is based in San Diego, CA, and follows a 2nd shift schedule (1:00 pm – 10:30 pm).

Responsibilities

• Accountability for meeting or exceeding the Safety, Quality, Delivery, Employee, and Cost (SQDEC) expectations of internal and external customers across assigned programs.
• Support and drive continuous improvements to achieve year-over-year SQDEC goals.
• Collaborate and coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and Business Support Functions to achieve product and site business goals.
• Develop talent through the performance management process, including individual and team goal setting, coaching, personnel development, and maintaining department training requirements.
• Ensure equipment and machinery are maintained in accordance with preventative maintenance schedules for assigned areas.
• Provide inputs into customer proposals by offering basis of estimates for labor, risks, and schedule durations.
• Design and execute staffing strategies to meet and balance customer needs and business objectives.
• Execute strategies and tactics to achieve breakthrough objectives and financial goals (Orders, Sales, EBIT, Cash).
• Communicate, manage, and achieve site tactical and strategic goals for the assigned value stream.
• Create a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, sharing (yokoten), and disciplined root cause problem solving.
• Own product value stream execution from contract award/sales order entry to final customer delivery.
• Accountable for meeting or exceeding safety, quality, delivery, and cost expectations within the entire assigned product value stream(s).
• Own, execute, and continuously improve Daily Management (Gemba, Obeya, Stand-Ups, etc.) within assigned Product Value Stream(s).
• Ensure financial operating integrity by supporting financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Maintain awareness and involvement in contract milestones that directly relate to billings.
• Support customer proposals by providing basis of estimates for labor and schedule duration.
• Communicate/escalate key issues related to safety/security, quality, delivery, employee, and cost upward to site leadership and downward into the organization.
• Proactively strengthen the Product Value Stream team through the performance management process (individual and group goal setting, coaching, and personnel development).
• Provide inputs to the performance of Process Center and Functional Leaders.
• Establish and maintain training requirements and deploy resources accordingly.
• Ensure succession plans are in place and proactively mentor key talent to assume increased responsibilities.
• Advocate a safe, secure, and ethical working environment that maintains compliance with federal, state, and local government regulations.
• Utilize and improve Northrop Grumman Corporation Quality Management System to achieve compliance and maintain certifications for AS9100 and NADCAP.

Requirements

• 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 7 years with a Master’s degree; 4 years with a PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• First Line Manager experience in an aerospace composite fabrication shop.
• Leadership experience demonstrating the ability to lead, build, and manage effective cross-functional teams in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Ability to solve problems and drive continuous improvements.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends.
• Knowledge and experience to develop and execute process standards focused on product area value streams and risk management identification and mitigation.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Pay

Primary level salary range: $133,100.00 - $199,700.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
