About the role
JELD-WEN is seeking a Manager, Maintenance to oversee maintenance tasks, including HVAC, lighting systems, plant machinery, and production lines. This role also involves supervising employees and coordinating third-party contractors.
Responsibilities
- Prepares work schedules, assigns tasks, and oversees maintenance activities while minimizing overtime.
- Develops and implements a preventative maintenance program, tracks downtime, and collaborates with CI Managers and Teams.
- Schedules and coordinates third-party contractor support as needed, working with PM, Engineering, and Logistics personnel.
- Prepares and secures maintenance budgets and cost quotes.
- Maintains up-to-date records on local, state, and federal mandates and inspections.
- Enforces safety and housekeeping practices, including hazardous waste disposal programs.
- Prepares and maintains maintenance reports for the Plant Manager and other managers.
- Works with other plant managers to maintain and improve plant facilities and equipment.
- Trains new and existing employees as directed.
- Assists in the selection of new hires, coaching, and disciplining employees.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Plant Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, Production Manager, or other supervisory personnel.
Qualifications
- College degree in a related field with 5-10 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the window and door industry.
- One to three years supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, machine repair and maintenance, plant layout, safety, painting, and janitorial experience.
- Familiarity with hand/power tools and associated plant/OSHA health and safety standards.
- Advanced knowledge of maintenance programs relating to plant and corporate KPI's, including SQDCI, TPS, and CI initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts.
- Basic understanding of human resource principles and practices.
- Knowledge of door and window production machines, tools, and maintenance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound technical, leadership, teamwork, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work effectively as a team player.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and relevant JELD-WEN software applications.
