About the Role

Piedmont Rockdale is a 161-bed, acute care, not-for-profit community hospital in Conyers that has provided compassionate, patient-centered care to Rockdale County and surrounding communities since 1954. We offer 24-hour emergency care, plus most major medical, surgical, and diagnostic services. This role oversees departmental operations of the Laboratory, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee departmental operations of the Laboratory under the direction of the Director.
• Perform administrative duties, including oversight and compliance of point of care testing and affiliated offsite areas.
• Monitor operations to ensure safe, efficient, and quality performance standards for employees, patients, and visitors.
• Collaborate with nursing, administrative, medical, and other staff to coordinate patient care activities.
• Support the facility's mission statement, achieve customer satisfaction, and identify system problems as opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Medical Technology or a closely related field is Required.
• Master's degree in Business Administration or Health Administration is Preferred.

Work Experience:

• 5 years of clinical experience, including at least two (2) years with supervisory responsibilities, preferably in an acute care hospital setting is Required.
• Demonstrated clinical competency in the specialty area applying for is Required.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Management of Clinical Laboratory: Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by ASCP, AMT, or AAB (AAB provisional certification not accepted) is Required.
• Management of Anatomic Pathology (Cytology/Histology): Certification in histology; certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL), Histotechnician (HT), and/or Cytologist (CT) by ASCP is Required.
