Manager, Investments
About the role
The Manager, Investments is a core member of Wilton Re’s investment organization and plays a critical role in the oversight and management of general account assets supporting the company’s reinsurance liabilities. This role partners closely with actuarial, finance, risk, audit, and new business teams to ensure the investment portfolio is aligned with liability profiles, capital objectives, and rating agency expectations.
Role Responsibilities
General Account Portfolio Management & Data Stewardship
Collaborate with CIO to develop investment strategy, assess market conditions and analyze investment opportunities
Execute investment strategy across public, private, and alternative asset classes
Ensure investment risk management and consistency across statutory, GAAP, and economic views to support ALM, capital modeling, and management reporting
Own the collection, validation, and governance of general account investment data sourced from asset managers, investment accounting providers, and external consultants
ALM, Capital & Risk Support
Partner with actuarial and risk teams to support asset-liability management analysis, duration matching, liquidity stress testing, and capital sensitivity analysis
Provide investment analytics and assumptions used in capital estimation, rating agency capital models, and internal risk appetite monitoring
Support investment strategy implementation in alignment with liability profiles, reinsurance structures, and capital optimization objectives
Investment Compliance & Controls
Lead portfolio compliance monitoring, including interpretation and coding of Investment Guidelines, trust requirements, and regulatory constraints
Monitor and document compliance for general account and trust assets; maintain historical records to support audits, regulatory exams, and rating agency reviews
Act as a key liaison with internal and external auditors on investment-related matters
Reporting, Governance & Stakeholder Engagement
Prepare and review investment reporting and analysis for senior management, the Board of Directors, regulators, and rating agencies
Clock in with coordination with external investment managers and consultants on reporting standards, data reconciliation, and portfolio reviews
Support governance processes related to investment approvals, guideline updates, and portfolio changes
New Business & Portfolio Transitions
Support asset structuring and transition activity related to new reinsurance transactions, portfolio transfers, and block acquisitions
Aid with asset manager onboarding, portfolio setup, and post-close reporting stabilization
Contribute investment analytics and due diligence support during transaction evaluation phases
Process Improvement & Leadership
Drive enhancements to investment analytics, reporting automation, and monitoring tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
Serve as a mentor and technical resource to junior investment and analytical staff
Promote best practices in investment controls, documentation, and operational discipline
Basic Qualifications
Minimum 6 years of experience in investment management, insurance or reinsurance, asset management, or a quantitative financial services role with general account exposure
Strong understanding of fixed income portfolios supporting insurance or reinsurance liabilities; familiarity with derivatives and structured assets a plus
Advanced Excel and analytical skills, including automation and data manipulation; experience with VBA, SQL, or AI-enabled analytics a plus
Proven ability to collaborate across actuarial, finance, risk, and investment teams and communicate complex information clearly
Knowledge of side cars and other types acquisition structures a plus
Required Education / Certifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, or related field; progress towards an advanced degree and/or professional designation a plus
Pay/Location
Norwalk, CT Hybrid Structure Minimal to no travel required Base salary/hourly rate range for this position in Connecticut is between $130,000 and $160,000 Please note that specific compensation decisions are based upon a variety of job-related factors as permitted by law, including geographic location, credentials, skills, education, training, and experience. Base salary is just one component of Wilton Re’s total compensation package for employees. Additional compensation includes annual performance-based bonus, 401K with employer contribution, and profit-sharing program. Employee may also be eligible for long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
