About the role

The Manager of Infection Control will have the authority and 24-hour responsibility for ensuring strategies are implemented to prevent avoidable healthcare-associated infections, maintaining compliance with national standards and regulatory agencies including but not limited to TJC, OSHA, CMS, CDC/NHSN, California statutes, and other nationally organized recommendations and requirements. This role involves coordination and management of activities and resources for infection prevention and control.

The Manager is trained in hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for the department's functions related to surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections; educating employees about infection control prevention; and the development of health system policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Implement strategies to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
  • Maintain compliance with national standards and regulatory agencies (e.g., TJC, OSHA, CMS, CDC/NHSN, California statutes).
  • Coordinate and manage infection prevention and control activities and resources.
  • Oversee surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Educate employees on infection control prevention.
  • Develop health system policies and procedures.
  • Handle budgets, recruitment, retention, and other staff-related competencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, Biology-Medical Technology, Master's in Public Health, or Doctor of Medicine required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or Master's in Public Health preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of Manager-level experience in Infection Control required.
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) required.

Qualifications

  • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) (preferred).
  • Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license issued by California Department of Public Health (CDPH) (preferred).
  • Medical Doctor (MD) license issued by the Medical Board of California (MBC) (preferred).
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) issued by the State of California (preferred).

Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, electronic medical records, and infection control databases.
  • Experience in handling budgets, recruitment, retention, and other staff-related competencies.

Schedule

  • Shift Duration: 8 hours
  • Primary Shift: Nights
  • Time Type: Full time

Pay

The estimated base rate for this position is $149,656.00 - $217,006.40. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
