Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop strong client relationships on various property tax consulting and/or compliance engagements.
- Provide guidance to clients on a range of property tax issues including complex, commercial, real, and personal property tax.
- Analyze property tax considerations and/or the potential impacts related to business restructuring or due diligence projects.
- Perform in-depth reviews of complex property tax returns.
- Assist with drafting and presenting new proposals to new and existing clients.
- Provide guidance and mentoring for the development of the engagement team.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 - 3 days per week.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or another related field.
- 5+ years experience working in property tax and with property tax assessors.
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
- Ability to travel up to 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
- One of the following active accreditations obtained: Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA; Licensed attorney; Enrolled Agent; Certifications: CMI (Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation), MAI (Member of the Appraisal Institute), ASA (American Society of Appraisers), CRE (Counselor of Real Estate), CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member); Licensed Texas Senior Property Tax Consultant.
- Prioritizing advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Previous consulting experience from a large property tax practice.
- Thorough understanding of PTMS and OneSource Property Tax.
- Experience with property tax compliance, tax planning, tax analysis, and related tax research.
- Experience managing a team and acting as first point of contact with your clients.
