About the role
Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Manager of Indirect Tax to oversee indirect tax compliance, planning, and audit inquiries.
Responsibilities
- Directly manage and ensure accuracy in the preparation and timely submission of all indirect tax returns, payments, and supporting work papers.
- Develop, train, and provide guidance to Senior Tax Analysts and Tax Analysts on their roles and responsibilities related to indirect taxes.
- Interface with employees at CCI plant locations, other CCI departments, and external advisors to accomplish tasks.
- Manage tax planning activities to minimize indirect tax liabilities, including identifying opportunities, researching rules and laws, and implementing approved strategies.
- Manage indirect tax audits and inquiries, including responding to exam teams, preparing defenses, and representing the company at meetings and hearings.
- Develop and document Company indirect tax positions and provide guidance on complex issues.
- Train and develop Senior Tax Analysts and Tax Analysts, and provide guidance to peers.
- Coordinate with external indirect tax advisors and consultants on special projects.
- Implement process improvements in the indirect tax department, including using software to its full potential.
- Participate on quality improvement teams.
Qualifications
- At least 6 years of experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm, specifically in indirect tax preparation and review.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Strong knowledge of indirect tax rules and concepts.
- Proficiency in Onesource Property Tax or similar software.
- Strong technology skills, knowledge of financial systems (Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, Sage fixed assets).
- Excellent technical, organizational, analytical, communication, and learning skills.
- Ability to work independently and in an agile environment.
- Strong employee and team coaching, mentoring, and development skills.
Benefits
