Wayne-Sanderson Farms’ Manager in Training (MIT) Program is a structured 12-month initiative designed to cultivate early talent into future company leaders. Participants develop critical leadership skills in dynamic, challenging environments.
Requirements
- College degree (associate, bachelor’s, or graduate) required, or degree must be completed by the MIT start date
- 0–5 years of work experience
- Must be able to relocate within the company’s geographic footprint

Responsibilities
- Learn day-to-day operations under functional managers or mentors through hands-on experience in assigned departments
- Understand departmental processes, procedures, and performance standards; apply skills in daily interactions with employees, vendors, and customers
- Identify customer (internal and external) needs and use feedback to improve products and services
- Pinpoint improvement opportunities, analyze root causes, propose solutions, and collaborate across departments to implement permanent fixes
- Partner with experienced leadership to direct frontline-associate activities
- Make principled decisions using the LEAP philosophy in all interactions with peers, subordinates, and management
- Align personal and subordinate goals with the company’s vision and objectives
- Uphold and promote all safety initiatives to maintain a zero-accident culture
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
Physical & safety requirements
- Follow all departmental and company safety policies and programs
- Wear required protective equipment in designated areas
- Travel throughout facilities, both indoors and outdoors
- Work in wet, cold, hot, humid, and/or dusty environments
- Occasionally lift up to 40 lbs
- Work unusual shifts (holidays, weekends, extended hours) as needed to meet production requirements
