Responsibilities

  • Direct and assign work; set performance objectives and monitor the performance of all Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) associates.
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual maintenance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions.
  • Support operations productivity by determining work priorities and scheduling repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Design, implement, and modify preventive maintenance programs by reviewing production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations, PSM requirements, mechanical, electrical, and other municipal and state codes.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment to protect employees and visitors.
  • Ensure equipment reliability by maintaining and analyzing “Maintenance One Pager Reports” and initiating action plans to drive improvement.
  • Ensure material handling equipment is clean, safe, fully operational, and in good repair.
  • Create and execute a comprehensive energy plan, including energy consumption, defined rate goals, strategies, action plans, conservation plans, and utilization effectiveness.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies that may improve operations and develop recommendations accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environment, health, safety, and HR regulations/procedures.
  • Work with General Manager(s) to develop annual budgets and ensure departmental financial goals are met.
  • Develop Capital Expense budgets and provide long-term planning for facility and equipment improvements.
  • Execute capital projects to completion, including obtaining bids, creating and submitting capital requests, and managing contractors/vendors.
  • Develop strong technical teams through Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for all Engineering & Maintenance associates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; Associate’s Degree or higher relevant to facility maintenance preferred.
  • CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) or similar certification preferred.
  • Completion of all eight (8) RETA courses preferred; RETA CARO or CIRO or equivalent preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance, with at least 3 years directly managing or supervising the work of others.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance principles and best practices.
  • Ability to manage employees and contractors in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to reason, negotiate, instruct, and persuade.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and judgment in communicating with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to develop mentoring relationships and contribute experience, skills, and wisdom to subordinate employees.
  • Ability to interpret HR regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a high sense of urgency in meeting objectives and deadlines.
  • Fully competent in mechanical knowledge and basic electrical concepts.
  • Ability to work with hands in mechanically oriented situations and follow verbal/written instructions, sketches, and diagrams.
  • Ability to supervise and inspect work performed by all levels of maintenance associates.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including being on call as needed, and ability to work overtime.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5-10% for development, training, and other requests.
  • Knowledge of ISO (International Standards Organization) and SAP or Oracle CMMS platforms preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Material Handling Equipment (Forklift) knowledge and certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for long periods with frequent interruptions, including getting up and down from chairs, and reaching or bending.
  • Manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work.
  • Talking, hearing, and seeing are important elements of completing assigned tasks.
  • May require travel by automobile and airplane for business.
  • May require working in temperatures at or below freezing.
  • Occasionally lifts, carries, positions, or moves objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Requires the use of various electronic tools.
  • Ability to relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions, including partnering with colleagues without exhibiting behavioral extremes.
  • Performance of work activities including reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others, and responding appropriately to constructive feedback.
