About the role
This is a fully onsite role. This position plays a critical role in fostering a positive labor environment, managing employee relations in a unionized setting, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and driving HR strategies that support plant operations.
Responsibilities
- Mentorship, guidance, and leadership to HR team members
- Serve as the primary HR contact for plant leadership and union representatives
- Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements (CBAs)
- Manage grievances, arbitrations, and contract negotiations
- Serve as a trusted advisor and provide guidance on complex employee relations matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies
- Coach and support managers on employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary actions
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including OSHA, FMLA, ADA, and EEO
- Analyze HR metrics and develop action plans to improve workforce performance and engagement
- Manage training and development initiatives
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within the plant
- Oversee performance management processes, including performance appraisals and development plans
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related
- Master’s Degree or HR certification preferred
- 5+ years of HR leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Demonstrated experience working in a unionized environment and handling labor relations matters
- Strong ability to negotiate
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Proven ability to build trust and maintain effective working relationships with all various levels of the organization
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
