About the role

This is a fully onsite role. This position plays a critical role in fostering a positive labor environment, managing employee relations in a unionized setting, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and driving HR strategies that support plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Mentorship, guidance, and leadership to HR team members
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for plant leadership and union representatives
  • Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements (CBAs)
  • Manage grievances, arbitrations, and contract negotiations
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and provide guidance on complex employee relations matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies
  • Coach and support managers on employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary actions
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including OSHA, FMLA, ADA, and EEO
  • Analyze HR metrics and develop action plans to improve workforce performance and engagement
  • Manage training and development initiatives
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within the plant
  • Oversee performance management processes, including performance appraisals and development plans

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related
  • Master’s Degree or HR certification preferred
  • 5+ years of HR leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Demonstrated experience working in a unionized environment and handling labor relations matters
  • Strong ability to negotiate
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven ability to build trust and maintain effective working relationships with all various levels of the organization
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
