Manager - Hospital Operations - Jefferson Highway
About the role
This job manages and oversees the daily operations over assigned department(s). It acts as a liaison for staff, physicians, directors, and administration on a day-to-day basis; independently makes decisions that could seriously affect the overall division and/or organization's financial objectives, performance objectives, and strategic results; and monitors and maintains operational profitability in all assigned department(s).
Responsibilities
- Ensures quality of care and patient satisfaction through oversight of policies, procedures, and improvement initiatives.
- Manages, develops, retains, and inspires an engaged workforce.
- Makes decisions that could seriously affect the overall division and/or organization's financial objectives, performance objectives, and strategic results.
- Maintains operational profitability through effective budgeting and resource management.
- Monitors and distributes monthly or ad hoc operating reports to all providers and reviews information monthly with departmental physician leadership and direct leader.
- Reviews scheduling telephone service and access data daily, readjusts staffing levels, and provides recommendations to leadership.
- Determines appropriate staffing levels, interviews, hires, onboards, conducts performance reviews, and works with Human Resources on the progressive discipline of employees within the departmental unit(s).
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions, and communication style.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business administration or related field.
- Work Experience Required: High school diploma with 7 years of related healthcare experience including 2 years of supervision or management experience; OR Bachelor's degree with 3 years of related healthcare experience including 2 years of supervision or management experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent leadership skills and ability to be self-directed.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of current, applicable federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements and ability to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards.
