About the Role
Leads clinical laboratory section(s) and/or laboratory support functions within the Diagnostic Laboratories of the Medical Center. Provides direction for the supervisors of individual laboratories and serves as a key resource to integrate clinical activities and optimize patient care. Collaborates with the lab leadership team to define clinical performance standards and quality measures, monitors performance, and initiates corrective actions as needed. Manages staff, operating budget, and participates in capital budget planning.
Responsibilities
- Monitors and coordinates programs and actions within areas of responsibility; maintains overall fiscal accountability for section(s).
- Develops work goals and objectives based on organizational plans and forecasts; plans to achieve goals or establish priorities through appropriate budgeting and program development.
- Monitors payroll reports for overtime and FlexPTO; conducts performance appraisals.
- Demonstrates clinical expertise in patient care, including assessment, treatment, care planning, patient education, and evidence-based practice.
- Develops and implements measures for attaining business results; tracks progress toward goals and objectives.
- Participates in quality management by analyzing work processes, identifying improvements, and establishing standards for quality and excellence.
- Manages people effectively by resolving conflicts, providing career development planning, and delivering constructive feedback.

Requirements
- Certifications: Licensed Medical Laboratory Supervisor (Tennessee Medical Lab Board).
- Work Experience: 5 years of relevant experience.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree.
