About the Role
This position leads and manages Health Information Management (HIM) initiatives, including overseeing staff training and development. The role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and actively participates in quality improvement programs. Additionally, the HIM Manager utilizes data analytics to identify and resolve issues, as well as manage budgets effectively. The position is located in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage HIM initiatives and staff training/development.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement programs.
- Utilize data analytics to identify and resolve issues.
- Manage budgets effectively.
- Monitor the quality of HIM processes and maintain facility readiness for regulatory audits.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Health Information Management.
- 5 years’ experience in HIM/medical records.
- 3 years’ experience in a leadership/management position.
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Information Management.
- 5 years’ experience in a leadership/management position.
- 3 years’ experience in ROI (Release of Information) or MPI (Master Patient Information).
- Experience with Epic EHR.
Skills
Technical Proficiency
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, data analysis, and research skills.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Regulatory Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge of HIPAA, CMS, and State Regulations along with Joint Commission Standards.
- In-depth understanding of the health record, medical terminology, coding guidelines, the revenue cycle, and electronic health records (EHR).
