Manager, Health Information

About the role

The Manager of Health Information oversees the HIM department, ensuring efficient and compliant management of patient records. This includes overseeing staff, implementing systems, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Manages HIM department activities and functions
• Prioritizes tasks according to departmental goals and standards
• Provides in-services and educational sessions on HIM topics
• Assists with digital faxing, scanning, sorting mail, and lab reconciliations
• Participates in committees and meetings
• Serves as a liaison to Gorwood Systems, Inc. or other vendors
• Conducts follow-up record reviews and subpoenas processing
• Ensures patient records are accurate and complete

Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year program in Health Information or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of Rhode Island State and federal laws and HIPAA Privacy regulations
• Analytical and judgment skills for evaluating legal rights
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Medical terminology and proficiency in computers, including electronic health records
• Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a patient-centered or community health center environment
