Manager - Health Care Data Analytics

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Analytics & Modeling
  • Conduct quantitative analyses using Medicaid, Medicare, commercial claims, hospital cost report, and other public or proprietary datasets to address client policy, business, and research questions.
  • Identify appropriate data sources and methodologies based on project objectives, scope, timing, and budget.
  • Build and support the management of complex analytical and financial models, integrating data from multiple sources, to inform policy evaluation, forecasting, program design, and business decision-making.
  • Develop assumption-driven forecasting models, including revenue, expense, and policy scenario analyses, and support Medicare and Inflation Reduction Act-related analyses.
  • Define analytical approaches, interpret findings, and translate complex results into actionable client insights.
  • Write, review, and maintain high-quality Python, SAS, and/or SQL code to analyze large-scale healthcare datasets, leveraging AI-assisted tools where appropriate.
  • Conduct statistical analyses, including regression modeling and other quantitative methods.
  • Support data governance, quality assurance, and programming best practices, including version control and development environment management.
  • Manage data acquisition processes and data use agreements as needed.
  • Client Delivery & Consulting
  • Support consulting engagements across Medicaid and Medicare policy, health systems strategy, payment and delivery reform, health data modernization, and life sciences market access.
  • Communicate complex analytical methods and findings effectively to a variety of audiences through written reports, presentations, and data visualizations.
  • Develop and deliver organized, substantive, and polished executive-level presentations that synthesize complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Manage project workstreams from planning through execution, including work plans, milestones, deliverables, client and internal communications, and issue resolution.
  • Apply critical thinking and structured problem-solving to complex healthcare policy and business challenges across a variety of projects and topic areas.
  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Mentor analysts and consultants, fostering excellence in client service, professional development, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Supervise and support teams in data-driven problem-solving and strategy development while ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of Manatt Health’s analytics capabilities, including adoption of emerging AI-enabled solutions.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public policy, health economics, applied economics, public health, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of substantive healthcare experience in consulting, policy, research, payer, provider, or government experience.
  • Direct experience analyzing Medicaid and/or Medicare claims data required; experience with the CMS Virtual Research Data Center (VRDC) preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience developing analytical code in Python and/or SAS/SQL to analyze large healthcare datasets; Databricks experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare policy, with Medicaid policy and financing expertise highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous quantitative analyses and effectively communicate insights through written and visual materials.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong client relationship skills and a proven ability to develop practical, innovative solutions.
  • Exceptional problem solving, organizational, written and verbal communications, and presentation skills, including confidence presenting to executive audiences.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with AI coding tools such as Codex or Claude Code is a plus.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and entrepreneurial mindset with strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare strategy, market dynamics, health equity, and emerging industry trends.
