As part of Global Credit, Asset Backed Finance focuses on the origination, structuring, and management of credit opportunities. The team invests primarily in private, directly originated credit instruments and provides flexible, asset-backed financing solutions to non-bank lenders and asset owners. Additionally, Asset Backed Finance designs bespoke investment solutions for institutional clients, including pensions and insurers. Fund Management teams serve as strategic business partners, operating as the CFO function for the funds they support and acting as connective tissue across deal teams and the broader Carlyle organization.

In-Office Requirements: 4 days per week in-office.

Responsibilities

  • Fund Management/Operations:
    • During fundraising, review data analysis for updating marketing materials, assist with due diligence questionnaire responses, and evaluate side-letter arrangements and fund closing processes.
    • Coordinate with investment teams, legal/tax counsel, and middle office operations to plan and execute fund and deal closings, including legal entity structuring.
    • Assist with the formation of new entities, prepare documentation for internal Legal Entity approval, and coordinate tax documentation (W8, W9).
    • Assist with diligence and closing of newly admitted LPs, including diligence meetings and requests.
    • Monitor legal compliance with fund agreements and arrangements.
    • Manage fund capital activity, including capital call calculations, distribution calculations, carry waterfall analysis, management fee allocations, and other reallocations prepared by the TPA.
    • Review valuation models prepared by the deal team and materials for the quarterly Valuation Sub-Committee Meeting.
    • Review fund and portfolio performance metrics and revenue projection models.
  • Fund Accounting / Financial Reporting / Investor Reporting:
    • Oversee and review quarterly fund closes based on data from the TPA, including balance sheet and income statement accounts.
    • Review cash and position reconciliations from the Operations team.
    • Review accrued and realized carry calculations from the TPA.
    • Review capital allocations and capital statements prepared by the TPA.
    • Review financial statements and annual tax workbooks detailing book-to-tax differences, tax returns, and partner K-1s.
    • Coordinate preparation of quarterly investor updates and interim/year-end audit requests, addressing questions from external auditors and investors.
    • Coordinate corporate deliverables and disclosures for the firm’s public company reporting.
    • Interact with investors periodically and produce ad hoc analysis.

Requirements

  • Education & Certifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Concentration in Accounting and/or Finance (double major/minor strongly preferred).
    • CPA and/or CFA preferred.
  • Professional Experience:
    • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience.
    • Private equity industry experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of US GAAP reporting requirements.
    • Knowledge of the credit investment universe (e.g., CLOs, Term Loans, Revolvers).
  • Competencies & Attributes:
    • Highly motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent written and oral communication.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple responsibilities under strict deadlines.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Pay

The anticipated base salary range for this role in New York City is $135,000 to $155,000. Eligibility for an annual discretionary incentive program may also apply, dependent on individual and organizational performance.
