Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Finance Business Partner for R&D, Clinical & Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and Product Management.
  • Develop strong working relationships with functional teams and provide financial guidance to support approved priorities, operational execution, and effective resource planning.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations on investment proposals, headcount planning, operating expense management, and resource needs.
  • Translate financial performance and project requirements into clear insights that support informed business decisions.
  • Partner with innovation leaders to evaluate project needs, identify financial risks and opportunities, assess resource requirements, and support alignment between functional plans and approved financial commitments.
  • Support project and portfolio financial reporting, including dashboards or trackers that summarize spend, forecast, business case assumptions, risks, and financial implications for active NPI and MOB initiatives.
  • Work with Accounting and controllership teams as needed to support close-related analysis, accrual visibility, project cost classification, and forecast-to-actual transparency for innovation-related spend.
  • Support planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities for innovation-related functions.
  • Ensure plans are supported by clear assumptions, appropriate documentation, and alignment with approved priorities.
  • Coordinate forecast submissions and planning activities across R&D, Clinical & Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and Product Management to ensure consistency, transparency, and accountability.
  • Prepare forward-looking analyses to support project decisions, resource planning recommendations, and portfolio prioritization analysis.
  • Aid leadership in evaluating alternative scenarios and understanding the financial impact of key decisions.
  • Serve as the Finance representative on assigned Product Development Core Teams supporting Solta's stage-gate product development process.
  • Partner with Program Leads and Program Managers to support financial planning, business case tracking, and visibility throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Provide Finance input, validation, and recommendations for project budgets, business cases, stage-gate materials, and revenue, ROI, and NPV assumptions while operating within the decision rights established by the PDP Core Team governance model.
  • Validate financial assumptions supporting product business cases, including project costs, revenue forecasts, margin expectations, ROI, NPV, launch economics, return expectations, and sensitivity scenarios.
  • Assist teams in identifying financial trade-offs related to scope, timing, regulatory requirements, and execution risks.
  • Prepare financial analyses supporting Stage Gate Reviews, Product Strategy Reviews (PSRs), and portfolio governance discussions.
  • Help ensure financial assumptions, risks, and implications are clearly summarized for leadership review.
  • Monitor project spending, investment performance, and business case assumptions throughout program execution.
  • Escalate significant risks, opportunities, or deviations from approved plans and support development of mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Support financial management of Solta's product portfolio across both New Product Introduction (NPI) and Maintenance of Business (MOB) initiatives.
  • Evaluate portfolio priorities, lifecycle investments, and resource allocation needs.
  • Support analysis of product enhancements, sustaining engineering initiatives, remediation efforts, manufacturing improvements, and compliance-related investments.
  • Provide analyses that inform product enhancement, resource deployment, and lifecycle management decisions.
  • Monitor financial performance of approved initiatives and ensure projected benefits, investment assumptions, and approved project outcomes remain visible throughout execution.
  • Support Medical Affairs and Regulatory Affairs organizations through financial planning, investment evaluation, and financial tracking, reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Provide financial guidance related to clinical studies, post-market evidence generation, regulatory submissions, compliance initiatives, and approved medical programs.
  • Assist business leaders in evaluating investment alternatives, funding requirements, and resource allocation needs.
  • Develop analyses supporting clinical and regulatory investment prioritization while ensuring alignment with approved objectives, launch requirements, and portfolio priorities.
  • Monitor financial performance of approved programs and identify risks, opportunities, and actions required to support achievement of business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive FP&A, business partnering, or related financial planning and analysis experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, financial analysis, and performance management processes, strong financial modeling, business case development, and investment evaluation capabilities.
  • Experience partnering with business leaders and supporting decisions through data-driven analysis, excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial planning systems, ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
  • Experience supporting Research & Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Program Management, Engineering, or Innovation organizations, experience within medical device, healthcare, life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industries.
