About the role

The Facility Manager at Emory University is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of assigned zones, adhering to codes, standards, and university guidelines. They manage maintenance programs, implement operational strategies, and collaborate with various departments for support. The role involves working closely with clients to ensure facility alterations, renovations, and new constructions align with Emory University’s plans. Additionally, the Facility Manager assists with facility management’s planning and emergency response during critical and hazardous weather events.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with codes, standards, and university guidelines
  • Develops and manages maintenance and operation programs
  • Implements operational strategies using in-house trades and mechanics, maintenance service contracts, and task contracted vendors
  • Oversees maintenance mechanic and specific trades work, including planning for campus growth and capital renewal
  • Collaborates with Campus Services’ various departments for additional support when required
  • Works closely with clients to ensure facilities meet Emory University’s short- and long-range plans
  • Assists with Facility Management’s planning and emergency response for critical and hazardous weather events
  • Plans, administers, and monitors associated budgets
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates maintenance staff
  • Conducts routine customer stakeholder meetings to assess service level performance goals

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, facilities management, or related field and eight years of general building / facilities maintenance experience, including five years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Knowledge of building trade operations, building automated systems, HVAC systems, chiller and boiler operations, emergency generator and auto transfer switch service, grounds keeping, construction, current maintenance practices, and work control methods
  • Thorough knowledge of various computer software applications, including ability to produce and interpret key performance indicator (KPI) reports
  • Experience in developing budgets and cost estimating
  • Able to read blueprints
  • A valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and twisting

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, facilities management, or related field and eight years of general building / facilities maintenance experience, including five years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Additional relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Knowledge of building trade operations, building automated systems, HVAC systems, chiller and boiler operations, emergency generator and auto transfer switch service, grounds keeping, construction, current maintenance practices, and work control methods
  • Thorough knowledge of various computer software applications, including ability to produce and interpret key performance indicator (KPI) reports
  • Experience in developing budgets and cost estimating

Pay

The pay range for this position is $X per hour - $Y per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Exact pay will be determined based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Schedule

The Facility Manager works a standard full-time schedule, typically 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet the needs of the position.
