Key Responsibilities
- Provide enterprise leadership for facilities operations across all manufacturing and office locations, including buildings, utilities, infrastructure, and site services.
- Establish, execute, and continuously improve enterprise facilities standards, policies, and operating practices, while accounting for site-specific layouts, equipment, and operating conditions.
- Serve as a hands-on facilities leader, actively supporting on-site facilities work as needed, including inspections, troubleshooting, project execution, and issue resolution.
- Ensure facilities operations support safe, compliant, and efficient production and administrative.
- Oversee preventive and corrective facilities maintenance related to building systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, electrical distribution, plumbing, compressed air, steam, water, and wastewater systems.
- Own facility-related permitting and approvals, including building permits, inspections, certificates of occupancy, and associated documentation.
- Serve as the primary enterprise interface with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), including building departments, fire marshals, environmental agencies, and utility providers.
- Actively coordinate inspections, approvals, and close-outs, ensuring projects and modifications meet code, environmental, and operational requirements.
- Lead and support environmental compliance programs, including wastewater, stormwater, air emissions (as applicable), hazardous materials handling, waste management, and spill prevention.
- Own sanitation execution and readiness across all facilities in alignment with FSQA-defined standards, SOPs, and acceptance criteria.
- Lead and manage a defined group of dedicated sanitation employees, ensuring staffing, training, scheduling, and execution meet operational and food safety needs.
- Ensure sanitation activities are completed on time and to standard, supporting successful FSQA pre-operational inspections and production release.
- Provide and maintain sanitation tools, chemicals, equipment, and infrastructure required for effective execution.
- Own sanitation labor planning, budgeting, and cost control, to minimize spend while meeting FSQA standards, operational needs, and commitment to Grandma Quality.
- Respond to and correct sanitation deficiencies identified by FSQA, ensuring timely and sustainable corrective actions.
- Partner with Operations to align sanitation windows with production schedules while protecting food safety integrity.
- Reinforce disciplined sanitation execution as a critical control system, not a support function.
- Provide facilities leadership and hands-on support for CapEx projects, expansions, and facility upgrades, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance are designed in.
- Actively oversee and support office, and manufacturing facility upkeep, layout changes, and reconfigurations, ensuring offices and production areas are safe, functional, and reflect Grandma Quality in appearance and execution.
- Own grounds and exterior facility maintenance, including landscaping, snow and ice removal, parking areas, walkways, and exterior lighting, ensuring safe access, regulatory compliance, and a professional, well-maintained appearance year-round.
- Cover coordination closely with Reliability & Asset Management on shared systems, infrastructure reliability, and asset lifecycle planning.
- In partnership with Procurement, manage and directly engage third-party vendors and contractors, ensuring safety, quality of work, compliance, and cost control.
- Develop, track, and review facilities and environmental KPIs, including work order completion, compliance status, inspection outcomes, and utility reliability.
- Identify risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities related to facility condition, capacity, environmental compliance, and infrastructure readiness.
- Participate in M&A diligence and post-acquisition integration, assessing facilities condition, permitting status, environmental risk, and infrastructure gaps.
- Ensure facilities and environmental practices are standardized across locations, while allowing flexibility for site-specific needs.
- Communicate facilities performance, risks, and priorities clearly to enterprise and site leadership.
- Reinforce a culture of Commitment to Craftsmanship, safety, environmental stewardship, accountability, and respect through daily actions and expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field. Relevant work experience will be considered for internal candidates.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in facilities management within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- 3+ years of experience leading facilities teams or site-based leaders in a multi-site environment.
- Demonstrated ability to both lead and perform facilities work, including building systems troubleshooting and project execution.
- Strong working knowledge of industrial building systems, utilities, and infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of environmental compliance requirements, including wastewater, stormwater, waste management, and applicable air regulations.
- Experience managing permits, inspections, contractors, and regulatory interactions.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to partner cross-functionally and lead through influence.
- Experience in food manufacturing or other regulated environments.
