CORE DUTIES
- Lead facility maintenance through hiring, training, creative problem solving, communication, and effective delegation to meet leadership and organizational needs.
- Supervise, prioritize, and coordinate the activities of the facility maintenance team.
- Delegate responsibilities, assignments, projects to facility maintenance staff to develop decision making skills, communication skills, customer service skills, and pride of ownership.
- Develop and manage maintenance documentation to ensure compliance with Promega’s quality system, business, regulatory, and contractual needs.
- Communicate effectively with building occupants, stakeholders, Facility Director, and management staff regarding facility maintenance issues.
- Ensure refrigeration and building alarms are actively monitored by maintenance staff and provide assistance as required.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to enhance customer service and response among facility maintenance and security staff.
- Drive operational improvements and solutions for building system deficiencies.
- Create project capital justification requests for potential facility projects.
- Manage and coordinate equipment installation and facility remodel projects.
- Assist with drafting and maintaining Facilities department forecasting.
- Share 'on-call' responsibilities with other maintenance staff as needed.
- Occasionally visit facilities during non-business hours to address building systems problems.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate Degree in a technical facility maintenance field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years experience in building maintenance or related fields such as construction, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience including a track record of successful communication, budgeting & negotiating, scheduling, and staffing.
- Ability to drive and work flexible hours as required.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer service orientation.
- Positive, productive, and flexible work attitude with a willingness to adjust scheduled work hours.
- Proven track record in creating a safe and comfortable working environment and compliance with local, state, and federal codes.
- Proficiency in digital tools and technology, including Microsoft applications and mobile platforms, with the ability to adapt and leverage emerging technologies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of critical systems, including production lines, HVAC, water treatment systems, security, and electrical generation systems.
- Experience working in a chemical processing laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance practices/principles.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to move objects weighing up to 100 pounds occasionally for up to one hour per day.
- Occasional climbing of ladders.
- Valid driver's license.
