The Business Development & Marketing team plays a critical role in enhancing the Firm’s reputation, expanding its client base, and driving revenue growth. This team develops and implements strategic marketing plans to promote the Firm’s legal services, leveraging digital and traditional marketing channels to reach target audiences. They conduct market research to identify industry trends and client needs, positioning the Firm competitively within the legal marketplace. The team also manages client relationships, orchestrates business development initiatives, and seeks opportunities for partnerships and networking. Through compelling content creation, event planning, and public relations efforts, they ensure that the Firm maintains a strong market presence and continues to attract and retain clients.

About the role

The role will support the Senior Events Manager in managing the Firm's client and internal events on the West Coast. The position will develop and coordinate hospitality and event opportunities for the Firm's clients and regional sections, working with the business development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the preparation and delivery of West Coast (and Americas) events program to include virtual, in-person, and hybrid events (300+ per year).
  • Support the Americas' Senior Events Manager in overall team and project management in accordance with the 2027 strategy.
  • Train and mentor team members to ensure they are given the proper tools and structure to carry out best business practices.
  • Work closely with the Firm's Business Development teams in setting annual event objectives in collaboration with key stakeholders and measuring success against these post-event.
  • Create event ROI data and reporting for key stakeholders.
  • Manage budgets and reporting for events in the West Coast offices.
  • Project management of West Coast sponsorships that incorporate cross-practice client events and cross-region communications, including working with relevant business development stakeholders to determine the best course of list management.
  • Take an active role in office management to implement best practices and annual event plans.
  • Work directly with senior operational managers to ensure efficiencies by following best practices while also consulting with other Event Managers globally and the Director of Events.
  • Assist in the management of the event management tool implementation process – develop a firm roll-out plan across all regions (Cvent).
  • Advance overall department goals through special projects and initiatives, including researching venues and attending industry-networking events to maximize knowledge and generate ideas.
  • Project lead Global Event Team objectives, including management working groups, timelines, and progress reports.
  • Project management of the relevant “regional” team to ensure all events data is up to date (for example, mid-year/year-end fact packs).

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • 7+ years of work experience in events and hospitality.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple tasks.

  • Proactive, resourceful, and takes initiative.
  • Resilience in dealing with change.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and project management skills.
  • Strong budgeting, research, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, assume responsibility, and work independently on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, as well as work effectively within a team.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willing to think outside of the box.
  • Able to work in a high-paced environment, managing multiple facets – not just related to events.
  • Willing to work on projects related to the firm’s growth and strategy.
  • Must be able to travel, work mornings, and weekends.

Location and Reporting

This is a hybrid in-office role based in our LA office. This role reports to the Americas Senior Events Manager.
