About the role
The Manager of Environmental Services (EVS) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley's environmental services function. The EVS Manager will ensure effective daily operations maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors at the hospital and assigned ancillary locations. This role involves managing a team of environmental services workers, fostering strong relationships with EVS leadership, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness. The Manager of Environmental Services plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment within the hospital, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to a positive patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the environmental services team, providing guidance and direction to achieve operational excellence.
- Interpret and adhere to environmental services policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including infection prevention and control practices.
- Effectively manage the department’s budget, expenses, and resources.
- Hire, train, and evaluate the environmental services staff to ensure individual performance meets organizational expectations and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in facility inspections in partnership with EVS leadership and key stakeholders to ensure compliance with established standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other hospital departments and leaders to ensure a safe and healthy environment for employees, patients, and visitors.
- Regularly monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and linen, and ensure proper functioning and maintenance of responsible cleaning equipment.
- Ensure staff are properly trained on a regular basis in procedures for safety, infection prevention, and waste management.
- Effectively communicate with staff, other departments, and hospital leadership regarding environmental services operations and initiatives.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree in facilities management, healthcare administration, or related field (Preferred)
- 3-5 years of progressive healthcare experience in environmental services or related roles (Required)
- 1-2 years of management or supervisory experience in environmental services or related field (Required)
Skills
- Knowledge of Environmental Services supplies and their uses.
- Knowledge of hospital Environmental Services quality standards and methods.
- Skilled in various methods of written and verbal communication.
- Skilled in problem-solving, with the capacity to grasp situations in a rapidly changing environment and provide effective solutions.
- Ability to teach others on OSHA, TJC, Title 22, and Department of Health Services standards.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong client and employee relationships.
- Ability to develop and motivate a team to exceed client expectations.
- Ability to operate and maintain Environmental Service equipment.
- Ability to understand data, reporting, and KPIs.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting and moving equipment.
Pay
Generally starting at $42.24 - $54.60 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
