Manager, Environmental Services

About the role

The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for the care, upkeep, and cleaning of assigned buildings and related facilities, as well as the supervision of the janitorial department.

Responsibilities

• Calculate material needed and develop material lists.
• Supervise janitorial staff including disciplinary, timekeeping, recruitment, and employee relations issues.
• Assess best practices for keeping facilities and grounds clean and safe.
• Work with supply and equipment vendors to determine needs of department.
• Aid janitorial staff in cleaning of facilities and grounds.
• Communicate with Facilities Director regarding departmental needs and concerns.
• Operate light duty equipment and machinery, and clean and care for it.
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Work independently in the absence of supervision.
• Clear sidewalks and parking lots during inclement weather days.
• Attend all required Safety Training programs and describe responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
• Promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of a team to facilitate the Clinic’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
• Attain all agreed-to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the Clinic’s overall mission.
• Respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
• Promote the education and development of students, interns, residents, apprentices, and other new staff by sharing expertise, responding to questions, and fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years’ maintenance/janitorial experience in a building trade setting, military, or other related experience.
• Valid Driver's License preferred.
• High School or GED preferred.
• One year management experience preferred.
