About the role

HF Sinclair is seeking a Manager, Environmental Air & ESG to oversee and assist site operation environmental teams with air and environment, social & governance (ESG) compliance. This role manages a small corporate team that conducts moderately complex environmental assignments, focusing primarily on public reporting and management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors changes in laws and regulations regarding air and ESG compliance and influences where and when appropriate.
  • Manages corporate ESG compliance program, including utilization of new tools and technology, stakeholder management, assurance, governance, and reporting.
  • Oversees internal corporate environmental training program.
  • Ensures accurate and timely submission of public ESG (i.e., Sustainability) Reports.
  • Communicates with regulators, politicians, legislators, the governor’s office, and news media as required.
  • Acts as the corporate air & ESG compliance subject matter expert (SME) and technical advisor.
  • May manage outside consultants and contractors.
  • Handles special assignments or tasks assigned by their supervisor.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of related experience.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field.

Skills

  • Leads and directs the work of others, typically supervisors and individual contributors.
  • Proficient with emerging technologies as well as existing programs (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
  • Advanced knowledge of laws, pronouncements, and regulations pertaining to environmental permitting, compliance, and operations.
  • Excellent planning, interpersonal, organizational, leadership, and public presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to provide analyses of proposed and final regulations that impact operations and/or compliance status.
  • Capacity to be strategic and visionary with complex data and metrics.
  • Advanced reading, writing, and mathematical calculation skills.

Supervisory Responsibility

Responsible for the supervision of approximately three employees.

Work Conditions

  • Office-based with up to 20% travel by land and air required.
  • Exposure to petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant, outdoors, and driver-based environments, including chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, and rotating equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling.
  • Talking or hearing, making visual inspections, precise hand and finger movements.
  • Reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 25 lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 25 lbs.
  • Climbing up to 10 ft.
  • Ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles; valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
  • Wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted).
