About the role
The Manager, Enterprise Architecture will manage the Enterprise Architecture function, including people leadership, architecture governance, operating model execution, architecture standards, planning activities, and delivery of enterprise architecture services. This person will lead a team of enterprise architects and partner with senior business and technology leaders to ensure that enterprise architecture practices support business strategy, technology modernization, innovation, operational resilience, security, and regulatory compliance. The role balances strategic leadership with operational execution, ensuring effective architecture processes, high-quality deliverables, maintained repositories, and efficient governance forums.
Requirements
- 20+ years of experience in information technology.
- 15+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, technology strategy, or architecture governance.
- 5+ years of people leadership, team leadership, or architecture practice leadership experience.
- Experience managing architecture governance processes and cross-functional architecture forums.
- Experience developing architecture standards, reference models, roadmaps, and operating models.
- Experience with enterprise architecture tools such as LeanIX, Ardoq, BiZZdesign, Sparx EA, Orbus, Apptio, ServiceNow APM, or similar tools.
- Experience working with senior business and technology leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in regulated industries preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- TOGAF certification.
- ITIL, SAFe, COBIT, PMP, or Prosci certification.
- Cloud or cybersecurity certification.
- Master’s degree.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the Enterprise Architecture team, including hiring, coaching, performance management, career development, and workload prioritization.
- Establish, maintain, and improve the Enterprise Architecture operating model, governance structure, processes, methods, and metrics.
- Lead the execution of Architecture Review Board, Technology Innovation Review, Architecture Community of Practice, and related governance forums.
- Partner with business and technology leadership to align architecture priorities with enterprise strategy, investment planning, and portfolio roadmaps.
- Oversee development and maintenance of enterprise architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, roadmaps, and architecture repositories.
- Ensure consistent architecture review, decision-making, documentation, exception management, and risk tracking across initiatives.
- Manage enterprise architecture tooling, data quality, repositories, dashboards, and reporting processes.
- Coordinate architecture involvement in strategic programs, transformation initiatives, regulatory initiatives, and technology modernization efforts.
- Drive application portfolio management, technology lifecycle management, standards compliance, and technical debt visibility.
- Promote reuse of enterprise capabilities, approved platforms, design patterns, and shared services.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, applications, operations, procurement, finance, and business teams to support enterprise technology planning.
- Monitor architecture performance metrics, including standards adoption, review cycle time, portfolio health, technology risk, reuse, and roadmap progress.
- Facilitate decision-making and resolve architecture conflicts across teams and domains.
- Support budget planning, resource planning, vendor engagement, and technology investment governance.
- Represent Enterprise Architecture in leadership meetings, planning forums, and governance bodies.
- Build and mature the Architecture Community of Practice.
- Ensure team members comply with company policies, security requirements, ethics standards, and regulatory expectations.
