Location: 31 Union Street, Hartford HealthCare’s Greater Manchester Region (10619). The region serves 300,000 people across 19 towns and employs approximately 2,500 staff, including teams at Manchester Memorial Hospital (249-bed community hospital), Rockville General (102-bed campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital), a large multispecialty provider group, and visiting nurse services.

About the Role

The Manager of Engineering reports to the Director of Engineering and oversees the daily activities of the Facilities Engineering Department. Responsibilities include managing personnel and all functions related to utilities, utility equipment, facilities, buildings, grounds, clinical engineering, and related equipment systems. While primary oversight is for Rockville General, the role also supports projects across the Hartford HealthCare network as directed by the Director.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Facilities Engineering Department personnel.
  • Manage utilities and utility equipment, including maintenance and operational functions.
  • Ensure proper upkeep of facilities, buildings, and grounds.
  • Supervise clinical engineering and related equipment systems.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable codes, including NFPA and building codes.
  • Apply principles of personnel management in the workplace.
  • Utilize preventive maintenance management systems effectively.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere to Joint Commission Standards, DPH, CMS, DEEP, and OSHA regulations.
  • Support projects across the Hartford HealthCare network as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license.
  • Three to five years of increasing responsibility in facility maintenance or project management in a healthcare setting.
  • At least three years of supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with building maintenance techniques, equipment, and operation of systems such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and structural.
  • Mid-level computer skills in Excel; basic skills in PowerPoint; operational skills for building management systems.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and complete a safe driving educational program upon hire and annually thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CHFM Certification or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • S2 or P2 license.
  • Licensed in plumbing, electrical, or HVAC.
