Manager, Engineering - Creative Systems
People Leadership & Development
Own growth, performance, hiring, and engagement for the squad. Run 1:1s, coach, navigate performance conversations directly and early, and create stretch opportunities that develop engineers. This is where you'll have the most impact.
Squad Delivery & Operating Rhythm
Own delivery, sprint health, technical direction, and the operating cadence (standups, planning, retros, roadmap reviews). Keep the squad focused and unblocked. Partner with Product, Creative, Brand, and Marketing leadership to maintain a roadmap that balances new capability delivery (creative and production workflows, DAM, creative automation and distribution) with platform health and integration investment. Own release management and change communication across systems with many upstream and downstream dependencies (creative tools, marketing platforms, ecommerce, retail, data).
Hands-On Technical Contribution
Stay close to the code: participate in design discussions, PR reviews, and debugging on the team's most complex or highest-risk work — and pick up tickets yourself when that's what the team needs. Be the unblocker when integrations break, builds fail, or a launch is in jeopardy. Set the technical bar by example. Partner with DevOps and QA Automation on CI/CD, test coverage, and observability so what the team ships is reliable and built to last — especially during high-volume creative moments and campaign launches.
AI-Driven Team Enablement
Set the standard for what AI-forward engineering looks like on this team. Drive adoption of AI tools across planning, code review, testing, and documentation, and through automation of creative workflows (AI-assisted asset tagging, content generation, integration testing).
Platform & Integrations
Hold the team accountable for clean, well-documented integrations between our creative and production workflows, DAM, creative automation tools, and the surfaces that consume them (web, app, retail, email, paid, B2B partners) — including the Product master-data connections that put style and season metadata cleanly into the DAM. Guide architectural decisions across a stack that includes Java-based content and media platforms (DAM, video MAM), C#/.NET, Node.js, Python for AI/ML and automation, and React. Expect heavy emphasis on third-party integrations, event-driven webhook orchestration, file-based pipelines (SFTP and high-speed transfer), REST APIs, and AWS.
What You Can Bring
- 3–7 years of software engineering experience and 3+ years as an EM or team lead; Bachelor’s in CS, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Proven people developer who has grown engineers, navigated performance conversations, and built strong team cultures. Management is the primary lens through which you evaluate success.
- Experience leading platform, integration, or content/CMS teams; integration experience with DAM, CMS, marketing automation, or creative production tools (Adobe, Figma, Contentful/Contentstack, Bynder, Cloudinary, SFMC, Braze) is a plus.
- Strong technical foundation across C#/.NET, Node.js, and Python back-end services, React, and REST API design — and comfortable staying hands-on alongside management work (code review, design, debugging, picking up tickets when needed).
- AI-forward mindset — daily user of AI-assisted development tools and hands-on with generative AI, with concrete views on how AI reshapes how teams plan, build, test, and ship — and how it's reshaping creative production itself.
- Excellent communicator, clear under pressure and credible with senior creative, marketing, and technology stakeholders. Comfortable with occasional off-hours availability for launch windows and time-sensitive escalations.
- Familiarity with video processing pipelines (transcoding, codecs, MAM workflows) or Java-based content platforms (AEM, MAM) is a plus.
