Manager, Emerging Groups

About the Role

Baker Tilly is seeking a tax professional to develop and implement tax planning strategies for emerging company clients across various industries, including technology, food & beverage, health & beauty, and professional services. This role involves ensuring tax compliance, overseeing tax return preparation, and staying updated on tax law changes. The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen, leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and develop a team of professionals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax liability for emerging company clients.
• Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
• Oversee the preparation and review of tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and personal income tax filings.
• Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations affecting emerging companies.
• Conduct research to address complex tax issues and provide recommendations.
• Identify opportunities for expanding services and growing the client base within the emerging companies group.
• Understand clients’ goals, industry trends, and apply this knowledge when directing teams in service delivery.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of professionals within the emerging companies group.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax reporting and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA required.
• 5+ years of experience in tax, with a focus on emerging companies’ core industries.
• Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
• Leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
• Great analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Proficient in using tax software and Microsoft Office applications.

Pay

The pay ranges for this position vary by location:

• New York, NY: $112,500 to $168,000
• Uniondale, NY: $108,000 to $161,200
• Iselin, NJ: $103,500 to $154,500

Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
