About the Role

The Manager, Distribution Center provides leadership and direction to the entire operation, including receiving, order picking, staffing, expense control, safety, inventory, transportation, shipping, and maintenance to ensure the achievement of company objectives and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direction to line managers and supervisors to ensure consistent administration of policies and delivery of established objectives.
  • Maintains sound employee relations by developing and maintaining a strong, cohesive management/supervisory team and communicating regularly with staff.
  • Analyzes facility layout, workflow, and operating results to identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
  • Researches errors and discrepancies; takes action to resolve issues.
  • Develops and manages operating and capital budgets; seeks cost-saving opportunities and ensures economical use of materials and labor.
  • Ensures facility performance objectives are met or exceeded for all operational metrics and customer service.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations and works with the safety management team to develop and deliver training.
  • Takes proactive measures to identify and minimize risks in facility activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a high-volume, semi-automated distribution center.
  • Experience in a facility using conveyors, RF scanning, and pick-to-ship container methods preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of inventory control and transportation management.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Windows; ability to learn in-house software applications.
  • Strong organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and train employees.
  • In-depth knowledge of complex automated distribution systems.
  • Proven ability to manage change and forecast future needs.

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced environment with standing on concrete floors up to 8 hours per day.
  • Exposure to loud noise.
  • Functional vision and hearing required.
  • Heavy lifting up to 70 lbs. and pushing/pulling up to 200 lbs.
