Manager, Development

The ALS Association is the largest ALS organization in the world, dedicated to making ALS livable and finding a cure. This is a remote role based in the St. Louis metro area.

About the role

The Development Manager is responsible for successfully implementing and coordinating all aspects of the ALS Association’s annual Swing for a Cure Golf Tournament and Game On! gala event. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can build relationships with supporters, work effectively under pressure, and grow support for the ALS community.

Responsibilities

• Implement a comprehensive plan to meet an income portfolio goal of at least $400,000 through 2-3 events annually.
• Collaborate with the Director and Development team to recruit, steward, and retain honorary chairs, event committee chairs, committee members, and build relationships with community partners.
• Execute face-to-face meetings, phone, and email contact with event sponsors and donors in partnership with embedded corporate staff.
• Ensure sponsorship benefits are executed according to a detailed sponsorship plan.
• Coordinate with an event production company and golf course to plan and execute event logistics.
• Develop event communication plans with embedded MarCom territory staff, ensuring adequate publicity and guest participation.
• Coordinate printing and distribution of event promotional materials.
• Ensure integration of Association standards and guidelines.
• Analyze event performance weekly in collaboration with the Development Director to ensure growth in monetary totals and attendance.
• Adhere to event budgets, reconcile budget to actuals, and provide event projections.
• Attend all events, committee and staff meetings, and territory-wide activities as assigned.
• Partner with Care Services staff to involve patients and families in awareness and fundraising activities.
• Work as an integral part of the Territory team, demonstrating initiative in a multi-state development effort.
• Convey an image that reflects favorably on The ALS Association.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of mission and fundraising goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in fundraising, event management, volunteer development and management, project management, sales, donor cultivation and relations, and corporate sponsor cultivation.
• Experience in public relations, donor cultivation and relations, and corporate sponsor cultivation strongly preferred.
• Skilled at managing participants in an online fundraising platform; ability to run reports and analyze data to build strategic outreach plans.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize event scheduling while knowing when to seek input from a supervisor.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to multiple constituencies, with strong follow-up and follow-through.
• Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality when working with sensitive records and information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to quickly train and use a donor database (such as Donor Pro and Convio). Experience with Quark, Illustrator, Publisher, and/or Photoshop a plus.
• Ability to travel on Association business as required.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $49,440 - $59,196 annually. The appropriate range will be determined by the candidate's primary work location, with adjustments based on factors such as complexity, significance of the role, relevant experience, and abilities.
