Responsibilities
- Land Engineering: Oversee all engineering activities related to land preparation for data center construction. Ensure that the land is suitable for the intended projects and meets all regulatory requirements.
- Utility Coordination: Work with contracted companies to facilitate the installation and integration of essential utilities, including solar energy systems, water supply, and fiber optics. Ensure that all utilities are delivered on time and within budget.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and to the highest standards. Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and monitor progress to ensure project goals are met.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors, fostering strong working relationships to achieve project objectives. Coordinate with stakeholders to address any engineering challenges that arise.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all engineering work complies with local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain high standards of quality and safety across all projects.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team and other departments. Stay updated with the latest engineering practices and technologies in renewable energy.
- Water Sourcing & Supply Agreements: Negotiate and secure long-term water sourcing and supply agreements with municipalities, utilities, and private providers. Assess water rights, capacity availability, and infrastructure requirements to ensure reliable, scalable supply for current and future data center operations while aligning with sustainability goals.
- Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive due diligence on prospective land acquisitions and development sites. Evaluate zoning, environmental constraints, geotechnical conditions, utility access, and permitting requirements to identify risks and ensure project feasibility. Provide detailed reports and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field). Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
- Proven experience in land development and utility coordination for large-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy systems, particularly solar energy.
- Experience with data center infrastructure and utility requirements.
- Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Compensation
$150,000 - $180,000 salary
