Manager, Custom Packaging Design Engineering

About the role

This position is responsible for supporting Custom Design Process Development Training, KPI development and analysis, participation in the ORBIS Momentum Steering Team, and leadership in New Product, Materials, and Innovation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Review and develop procedures and changes needed to support ORBIShield Custom Products.
• Maintain and update KPIs and distribute to upper management.
• Mentor Custom Product Designs group in both procedural and design attributes for standardized and manufacturable designs.
• Create new procedures as required for successful design development on a repeatable basis.
• Serve as a team member on New Products and Materials team to analyze, design, test and implement.
• Work with technical team members at all ORBIS Custom Plants in creating and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Work with Design team members to complete necessary paperwork for technical department.
• Participate in Kaizen Events to represent Custom Design function.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

• Required: Technical Degree/Certifications
• Desired: Bachelor’s Degree
• Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.

Work Experience

• Required: 5 – 7 years of relevant work experience
• Desired: 7 – 10 years of relevant work experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of returnable packaging concepts, material handling methods, and materials preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, data management, and design software (Inventor/Solidworks/Pro-E).
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Creative problem-solving abilities.
• ISO9000 Work Instruction Development.
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and duties.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Availability outside of normal business hours.

Travel Requirements

Minimal – Less than 10%, as needed for business support.
