About the Role

As a member of the A&M CTTA EMEA team, you will advise U.S.-headquartered multinational groups on the non-US tax aspects of global separations, carve-outs, divestitures, acquisitions, post-merger integrations, and other cross-border restructuring initiatives involving EMEA jurisdictions. You will analyze and develop tax-efficient structures across multiple EMEA jurisdictions, assess the application of tax-neutral merger and demerger regimes, and advise on the impact of OECD Pillar Two (GloBE) rules. Additionally, you will coordinate with various teams to deliver integrated solutions, assist clients with implementation, and support Directors and Senior Directors in developing client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on non-US tax aspects of global transactions and restructuring initiatives involving EMEA jurisdictions.
  • Analyze and develop tax-efficient structures across multiple EMEA jurisdictions, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Assess the application of tax-neutral merger and demerger regimes, participation exemption regimes, and other restructuring mechanisms.
  • Review holding company, principal, IP, and cross-border financing structures across key EMEA markets.
  • Evaluate withholding tax implications, including treaty access and anti-abuse considerations.
  • Advise on the impact of OECD Pillar Two (GloBE) rules and international tax developments.
  • Coordinate with U.S. federal, international, state and local, financial due diligence, operational due diligence, and indirect tax teams.
  • Assist clients with implementation by coordinating with local advisors and managing multi-jurisdictional workstreams.
  • Prepare client-ready analyses, presentations, memoranda, and recommendations.
  • Support Directors and Senior Directors in developing client relationships and identifying value-added opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Law degree with a tax specialization (from a European jurisdiction preferred); LL.M. in International Tax Law, European Tax Law, or related discipline preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant international tax experience at a leading law firm, Big Four firm, or tax advisory practice within Europe.
  • Experience advising on cross-border transactions, restructurings, carve-outs, divestitures, mergers, acquisitions, or post-merger integration.
  • Working knowledge of holding company structures, tax-neutral merger and demerger rules, participation exemption regimes, and withholding tax considerations across EMEA.
  • Familiarity with OECD Pillar Two (GloBE) rules and international tax developments.
  • Strong analytical, research, writing, and project management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate across jurisdictions, advisors, and functional workstreams.
  • Proficiency in leveraging emerging technologies (e.g., AI-enabled tools) to enhance analysis and workflow efficiency.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with initiative, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to work on high-profile global transactions.

Pay

The salary range is $145,000 - $185,000 annually, dependent on education, experience, skills, and geography. A discretionary bonus program is also available based on individual and firm performance.
