Manager, Corporate Strategy
About the Role
3M Corporate Strategy is a high-impact, highly visible team that works on strategic initiatives cutting across 3M’s wide variety of businesses and geographies. The group leads efforts related to enterprise strategy, portfolio management, resource allocation, M&A strategy, and manages the annual strategic planning process. Corporate strategists are senior professionals, working with business executives and leaders on the company’s highest priority initiatives, with an emphasis on value creation through growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic initiatives sponsored by the CEO, CFO, Chief Strategy Officer, and other Operating Committee members
- Lead corporate portfolio management projects focused on value creation and growth through resource allocation, business creation, and M&A
- Support the corporate strategic planning process, including executive and Board-level strategy formulation, business case development, and deck creation
- Track industry and competitive trends, and develop business outlook and forecasts
- Develop rigorous, fact-based, quantitative analysis to support recommendations
- Ensure strategic and financial soundness and alignment for any recommendations
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Five (5) years of strategy experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience at a leading strategy consulting firm or similar corporate strategy role
- Master’s Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Proven track record in providing novel and innovative solutions to complex or difficult strategic issues
- Demonstrated leadership ability – proven track record of leading high-impact projects and cross-functional teams
- Action-oriented, with emphasis on execution and results rather than theory
- Ability to independently lead and manage projects with multiple work streams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of functional business problems
- Must be able to interact with senior executives and handle high-pressure settings with confidence
- Hands-on, self-starter, team-oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, including solid understanding of financial and statistical analysis
- Significant experience with MS PowerPoint and Excel
- Experienced with advanced analytics tools (e.g., Tableau) is a plus
- Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)
Schedule
Hybrid Eligible: Job duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN at least 4 days per week (Monday - Thursday). Travel may include up to 15% domestic/international.
Relocation assistance may be authorized.
Pay
The expected compensation range for this position is $188,251 - $230,084, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
