Manager, Contract Logistics (1st Shift) - Reno NV
Under the direction of a General Manager, the incumbent manages one or more cost centers. Working with and through supervisory and warehouse personnel, this role is a team builder who manages the daily activities of the warehouse including personnel scheduling, supervision, and proper and safe utilization of space, equipment, building, and personnel. The Operations Manager serves as the key interface and coordinator between warehouse and office operations. The incumbent must apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model for operational efficiency to improve business processes, increase proficiency, and drive efficiency through waste elimination while meeting Corporate values and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Labor Management/Leadership
- Directs warehouse supervisory personnel to achieve prescribed objectives.
- Matches skills and background of personnel to work required.
- Ensures that timely performance feedback is given to direct reports on an ongoing basis with formal reviews conducted per Company-approved guidelines.
- Promotes employee development through in-house training, goal setting, and achievement feedback.
- Takes corrective disciplinary measures via progressive and well-documented discipline programs.
- Customer Service
- Maintains a professional and courteous relationship with all customers and work teams.
- Audits operations to ensure service standards are being met.
- Provides customer service training programs for all front-line personnel.
- Maintains a high profile with customers and solicits feedback.
- May support sales efforts by providing required operations data and interacting with customers.
- Safety
- Develops, implements, and directs programs to ensure the safety of all personnel to meet Company standards and federal regulations.
- Reports all work-related injuries to upper management immediately, filing appropriate reports and seeking medical attention as needed.
- Actively promotes safety awareness and ensures the continued effectiveness of safety programs.
- Ensures that regularly scheduled safety inspections are conducted and any necessary corrective actions are taken.
- Ensures the facility remains in compliance with all city, state, and federal regulations.
- Operations, Facilities, and Equipment
- Plans and manages the effective utilization of space to meet cost and service standards.
- Monitors space to ensure it continues to meet Company standards and customer product requirements.
- Develops and implements an effective product locator system, updating as needed.
- Develops and maintains procedures to ensure the efficient operation and utilization of all warehouse equipment.
- Monitors the cleanliness and working conditions of all equipment, overseeing repairs, adjustments, or replacements as needed.
- Adjusts the quantity and type of equipment to meet business needs and minimize costs.
- Develops an equipment maintenance schedule.
- Shipping/Receiving/Inventory Control
- Plans and schedules all distribution services including receiving, storage, staging, and shipping in an efficient, economical manner that meets customer requirements.
- Responsible for inventory control, directing procedures to ensure the security of assets and the prevention of damages or loss.
- Maintains cycle count programs to audit inventory accuracy.
- Prepares month-end reports as required.
- Financial
- May participate in the preparation of budgets, revenue projections, and account analysis.
- Responsible for understanding and interpreting financial information on P&L statements.

Requirements
- General Experience
- Must be knowledgeable in warehouse management and operations, including equipment and its proper use and maintenance.
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Must be able to manage budgets.
- Must be able to analyze and comprehend data.
- Must have attention to detail.
- Managerial Experience
- Must have two to three (2-3) years of management/supervision experience.
Pay
The typical starting salary range for this position is $71,857 - $143,714. The actual salary offer will take into account multiple factors including skills, experience, education, and location. Please note that the salary details listed reflect the base salary only, not total compensation, which includes bonus and benefits.

Schedule
Employees residing within 25 miles of an APL Logistics Hub Office (AZ, FL, MI, NC, OR) are required to follow a designated Hybrid schedule: 8 days per month in the office, scheduled by their supervisor. Warehouse roles are typically fully on-site. Candidates outside the 25-mile radius may be considered for fully remote roles, depending on business needs.
