About the role

Managers are the driving force for delivery in the business. They work hand in hand with Principals and delivery teams across multiple projects. They are vital to the success of our teams and projects. They are known for being awesome at delivery and seen as a “safe pair of hands” with our clients and the JMAN team.

Responsibilities

  • Business strategy

    • Aware of and understands the aims, values, and strategy of JMAN and responsible for delivering the strategic aims and objectives of the company.
    • Actively contributes to internal initiatives and ad-hoc projects, to continue to grow and develop self and business.
  • Business Development

  • Pursues upsell and cross sell opportunities that arise on projects, sharing intelligence with the Principal where needed, and working with them to extend client engagements and build relationships with client stakeholders.
  • Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and is passionate about growing the company.
  • Contributes to the JMAN knowledge management tools to ensure that lessons learned are shared across the business, for future lead generation and on future projects.
  • Client management

    • Establishes collaborative partnerships with client stakeholders to assess and recommend commercial and technical solutions.
    • Maintains excellent service standards and implements cost-effective ways to improve service quality.
    • Leads key meetings with clients (steering group, senior client updates etc.) and utilizes market knowledge/project experience to manage/adapt client expectations where appropriate.
  • Project Delivery

    • Managers make things happen. They deliver an outstanding job on every project and have end-to-end responsibility for operational excellence—quality and standards on every project.
    • Anticipates potential issues and dependencies and highlights project risks. In particular, a Manager proactively identifies and manages scope change/creep, ensuring appropriate planning measures are taken with clients such as change requests, updates to budgeting and timeline.
    • Manages the commercial side of project delivery—tracking budgeting and producing invoices.
    • Plans resource for new projects/initiatives and regularly reviews resources requirements to support JMAN team allocation.
    • Covers work streams across different team members, across multiple projects, and maintains an overarching view of the full workplan. Coaches team members to help them deliver above and beyond client expectations and to the best possible quality.
    • Acts as a key support for any concerns from team members on delivery, success of project, overall performance, and reporting.
    • Upholds data security principles as part of Project Management and capable of answering client questions regarding the JMAN data/information security policies.
    • Tracks and studies the lessons learned from prior projects, applies those in future projects and shares the most important lessons with the wider business.
  • People and Leadership

    • Leads by example and embodies the JMAN values.
    • Provides inspiration, clarity, and guidance to project teams to ensure that they meet expectations and understand “what great looks like” on projects. Maintains a work environment which people find supportive and stimulating.
    • Provides constructive day-to-day feedback and coaching to project teams on specific tasks (e.g., rehearsal walk-throughs, in-the-moment tips).
    • Provides constructive feedback to all JMAN team members, including peers, Principals, Associate Partners, and Partners.
    • Undertakes weekly and monthly reviews of team performance and provides mentoring and constructive feedback to support ongoing development.
    • Sets challenging and achievable targets and succeeds in encouraging others to set and achieve high standards.
    • Is clear about accountability and responsibility for decisions and involves team in joint problem-solving, whilst monitoring the impact this approach has on desired outcomes.
    • Responsible for effective management of data/information security policies and responsibilities, and reinforces data security training principles to colleagues.
    • Supports consultants with managing junior members of the project team.
    • Has ownership for managing of team members across multiple projects, coaching dedicated coaches and structured performance monitoring for the JMAN team members in their “management tree”.
  • Consultancy mindset and core competencies

    • Operates with a consulting mindset, can prioritize effectively across multiple projects and adapt in line with shifting business needs.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience; competence in clear, concise and tactful communication with senior management, clients, peers and team.
    • Has skills to use management techniques, procedures, and tools (including budget/cost management, risk monitoring).
    • Strength and experience building storyboards for client audiences at all levels.
    • Can use a variety of means to influence others; shows an ability to recognize the dynamics of different situations.
    • Is technically capable and astute.
    • Can demonstrate an informed opinion about technical requirements and the digital marketplace.
    • Is forward thinking, with an ability to innovate and leverage technology as it evolves.
    • Abilities underpinned and continuously improved by experience and shared learnings from the JMAN knowledge management tools.
    • Demonstrates a strong desire to find better ways of doing things and promotes the attitude “we can constantly improve”.

    • Bonus: Performance-based discretionary bonus
